The Bellingham Bayhawks rode the hot hand of Wyatt Stephan to a 50-45 victory over the Ferndale Golden Eagles, Friday night, on the Bayhawks floor.
The senior guard scored ten of his team’s 12 third quarter points, and 18 of the Bayhawks 28 second half points, as they held off late charges by the Golden Eagles. Stephan was the only Bayhawk to reach double-figures, totaling 27 for the game.
The game was tight throughout, with the Bayhawks holding their biggest lead of the game, 38-30, in the first minute of the fourth quarter.
The Golden Eagles cut the lead to one point on a three-point play by junior guard Lincoln Thomas, but the Bayhawks reeled off six quick points for a seven-point cushion that got them to the finish line.
Sophomore forward, Mantaj Singh, was the only Golden Eagle in double-figures with 16 points.
Ferndale (2-4/2-7) will host Cascade (Everett) on Thursday, December 28. Bellingham (5-1/6-2) will play at Marysville-Getchell, on Friday, December 29.
