The Lynden Christian Lyncs turned a six-point halftime lead into a 30 point victory Tuesday night, in a 71-41 win over Burlington-Edison.
Both teams applied full court pressure and solid half-court defense, but over time, the Lyncs offensive balance won out.
Tiger sophomore forward Logan Heigert and senior guard Rex Wilson average 18 and 17 points per game, respectively, and combined for all 19 Tigers points in the first half. Heigert finished with 19 and Wilson 11.
On the other side, LC guards, senior Dawson Bouma and junior Gannon Dykstra combined for 11 of their teams points in the first half, as the Lyncs took a 25-19 lead at the break.
In the second half, Bouma and Dykstra kept the offensive pressure on, as Bouma finished with 19 and Dykstra 15. They also got strong inside play from 6-4 senior forward Kayden Stuit, who added eight points for the Lyncs.
Freshman Kaden Veldman was a huge spark for the LC. Veldmen came off the bench and scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half. That includes one hoop via ricochet on a dish from Dykstra that bounced off Veldman, went high on the backboard and settled through the net.
On Friday night, the Tigers travel to Mount Vernon in their annual “Battle of the Bridge." The Lyncs will visit Sedro-Woolley.
